Strange Weather Today in South Denver

Today I was in the Parker area and my cell phone lost its juice so I couldn't take a picture of the odd cloud formations this afternoon. First, it poured for about 10 minutes. Then the sun came out. Then the real clouds came in and the tornado watches started to appear over the radio.

Bunches of big cotton balls in the sky. That's what the clouds looked like. Lightening took over with some thunder, but the big rain never came. Maybe they hit out east more.

One of the big misconceptions about Colorado is that it's always snowing in the winter and always bright and sunny in the summer. Well, the winter part is definitely not true. The summer part isn't too far off. It's definitely sunny here 28 out of 30 days every month. But, we'll get these odd patterns of days where there's a guaranteed thunder storm with lightening around 4pm.

Up until about 10 years ago, those daily t-storms would have rain....downpours of rain with them. But, these days, we don't seem to get the moisture, just lightening.
